I messed up my dns setup on 10.5.1. I am trying to remove a misbehaving zone entry so that I can start over. Selecting the zone in server admin and using the “Remove” button, is not working, and there are no entries in /var/namd/zones.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply.

I created it. I used the “add zone -> add primary master” option, then edited the name “example.com” to my dns. However, I hit save, before I noticed a typo. Now I can’t get rid of the bugger.

Actually, this all got started when I tried to set up wiki and Web calendar. All looks correct, but I am getting the dreaded, “404 error, group is not hosted on this server”.

    I have read the thread
    https://www.afp548.com/forum/viewtopic.php?showtopic=19499

but I can’t seem to sort it out. I thought that perhaps it was a dns issue. I was letting my university handle to dns, but I thought that perhaps I needed to be running dns myself in order to get this done. That is when I ran into problems with dns. Presently dns is _not_ running, but I would like to get rid of the erroneous dns rentry, then I can get back to figuring out what the heck is going on with the weird “group not found” error. The group is there plain as day under LDAP.

    Got it!.

    The solution was to

    1. create a new prinmary zone.
2 Copy the zone in /var/named/zones/
    3. Edit the zone file to match the zone name that I was unable to delete
    4. Choose “remove zone” from Server Admin.

And by the way the thread that I am following to solve the Wiki problem is

    https://www.afp548.com/forum/viewtopic.php?showtopic=18524

I posted my latest information concerning WIkis and groups there.
