ParticipantI’m trying to get the Password Server working so my Windows clients can login. I’ve run the open directory setup assistant and logged in with the username and password for the user that I want to administer the password server. Everything goes just fine and I restart the server when finished. After the server reboots, I log in to the workgroup admin app with the username and password I used to set up the Password Server and try to change a user to use the password server. The problem is that even the users I used to set up the password server is still set to use a basic password. I get the following error. Cannot set record to password server because you are not logged in as a password server administrator.
I’ve tried to delete the MacOSXPasswordDB and have rerun the open directory assistant numerous times. I’ve also tried to use a different username and password to admin the password server. The password server seems to shut down right after it starts. Here is a bit of my log entry.

I’ve also tried this at the command line but it made no difference. sudo NeST -hostpasswordserver <admin user> <admin pass>
I’ve also tried running permissions repair and have re-run the 10.2.8 server combo update. Any ideas before I start over from scratch?

Participant[quote:d1d031c2d3=”MacTroll”]Run OD Assistant again and set your server not to use a password server.
Delete everything in /Library/ApplePasswordServer.
You should also try moving anything in the /var/db/authserver directory.
Then try re-running ODA again to see if it sticks this time.
Joel[/quote:d1d031c2d3] I tried all of the above but I still can’t get an admin user set up to use a password server. I also tried to use sudo mkpassdb -a -u admin -p mypassword but that didn’t work either.
