    Server: 10.3.5
    Clients: 10.3.5

I’ve set up several machines using Managed Mobile accounts. I want to have these machines log in automatically using these OD based mobile accounts. Unfortunately, when I turn on Auto Login in system prefs and set it to the mobile account, I still get a login screen on startup. It ignores the auto login setting altogether. From there I can go ahead and manually log in with no problems.

Has anyone successfully done something similar and had it work? Or is this a possible limitation of the current mobile account architecture?

    Thanks for any input.

I’ve seen this issue with non mobile accounts as well. I’ve found that in 10.3 it seems idf the client is bound to an ldap domain this feature seems to work intermittenly at best. I would like to know if others have seen this behavior too and if there they have seen it work consistantly.

I spoke with 2 Apple techs this week regarding a related OD issue and asked them about this. The first one told me it’s not supported. It was one of those “if it doesn’t work then it’s not supported” answers to get me off the phone. The second tech actually took about 10 minutes to look into it and then determined that it can’t be done.

So it looks like the bottom line is that auto-login for mobile users doesn’t work at this point.
