Can AD Groups be used in 10.5.5 wiki?

I am looking into using Apple’s wiki. I have an Xserve currently with 10.5.5 server, bound to AD as a member server. Note no local Open Directory.

I have set teams to clear text, and I am able to create AD based blogs, but I cannot figure out how to enable existing AD groups for wiki. WGM choice for “Enable the following services for this group” is none and the checkboxes for wiki and blog are greyed out for AD groups.

all the instructions/examples I have found so far are for group setups with either OD or OD&AD combinations with the groups being created in OD.

Does anyone know if it possible to use AD groups directly?

The wiki/blog is a fragile nightmare. Do yourself a favor and setup a real wiki, like Dekiwiki or Twiki etc, (in a VM is great) and be done with it. They have LDAP plugins so you can tie them into the OD/AD quite easily. You can have it setup and working fast, and not have it break easily like the pre-alpha OS X Server wiki.
