    Hi everyone,
I’ve just inherited a G5 Xserver in a remote location.
I’d like to send someone there connect a firewire disk to the server and then clone the boot drive.
    Will Superduper work?
Can I clone the boot disk while the server is running?
    Thanks!
    Federico

I have not used superduper, but I know carbon copy cloner is free and will create a copy of a drive while it is running (never tried it for server though).
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

We do this on a regular basis.

Best method we’ve found, is to boot from a current OS DVD, then go to Disk Utilities, select Restore and drag the current system drive to Source, drag the Firewire HD to Destination, click erase destination.
Click restore, type the username and password, and then once it’s copied, you’ll be able to boot up from the clone.

    Mike
