If I have someone else doing my outside DNS and my server has a internal IP (10.xxx.xxx.xxx) but its still hosting mail, web, and LDAP. The router just forwards them to the local (10.XXX) server. What should I do for DNS? I know I need to setup local (internal) DNS, but should I give them a real name and set up real local DNS like “server.mydomain.com”, or should I keep it different then the outside domain and do something like “server.mydomain.lan”.

DNS is new to me as you can tell.

    Thanks

You want to use your same fqdn on the inside. You just use point your inside servers and clients to the internal dns, it will use its root hints to find anything on the outside.
