The Samba share is on a Mac OS X client machine. I need more then 10 users to log into this machine so I need to another protocol…samba. The users I want to log into this machine are all OD (open directory) users. I wanted to use managed preferences to mount the share on log in. Since I can’t get samba to authenicate the users through OD, I embedded the username and password into the URL for the samba share, BUT… the mobile user accounts (OD users) can’t log into the share even if it’s put into managed preferences. It does nothing. No error, no dialog box, nothing. I can manually log into the share using “connect to server” without a problem. The embedded username and password trick works there. Also, the user’s keychain also won’t store the samba share’s login info either. If any one has any suggestions that would be great!
PS: I tried setting up an NFS share using NFSmanager, but it didn’t seem to work at all. I error when I try to manually log into the share. I don’t know enough about NFS shares and connection to set one up properly.
