    Hi,
I need to integrate a new mac server with AD.

Ideally, user authentication would come from AD, and the AD users and groups would also appear in workgroup manager on the mac server so I can configure managed prefs etc. When passwords are changed for an AD user, these changes would be reflected in the OD server.

After some investigation, it would seem ‘augmented records’ are the solution. I understand you need to import users from AD into WGM, but how is this done?

I’m new to all this, any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Good questions… I’m in a similar situation.

Is there anyone out there that can help?

    My specific details:

AD server as my Primary Domain
    OD Master bound to AD
(Magic Triangle functioning w/AD logins, mcx, etc.)

My goal is to be able to import & augment all of our AD users (~10,000) into Workgroup Manager, creating OD accounts for them.

The reasoning is so that they can all take advantage of Podcast Producer, Wiki, Blog, etc. all from their WinXP PC’s.

Icing on the cake would be to have this “living,” so as new AD users are created (or deleted) it’s reflected on the ODM/Workgroup Manager, but that part is not essential.

    Thanks for the heads up.

Shortly after I made my post I found the “New Augmented User Records” option in WGM. This is going to make my life much easier.

I’m not totally concerned about automation, as it seems WGM is smart enough to not allow me to create duplicate Augumented User Records. Once they’ve been “imported,” they no longer show up in a search of the AD users. Therefore, I could import all my students, and then once a week or once a month go through and do it again, searching only for our students.

    Hooray!
