ARD: Locking User screen while doing maintenance

After my initial roll-out, I am LOVING ARD for managment. There is one thing I wish I could do though, and I’m wondering if someone here had an answer. Obviously there is the lock screen function, but is there a way to lock the screen and still do administrative work on the machine behind the scenes. I know I can do the unix scripts, but I need to have desktop access to the machine without someone using it. Any suggestions are appreciated!
