Timbits
ParticipantHey all, since i’m sitting around doing nothing these days. I thought i would ask if anyone can think of applescripts that you would like to see made. I’m looking at getting back into it, but i can’t think of anything i want to make.
I will say that i’m not too good at it, but i do have free time.

ParticipantWell i’m thinking that the code for both of those are way over my head. But if you would like some help I am willing at least to try. Let me know.

ParticipantI am sorta’ in the same boat as you, but I do not have time, and I am fairly new to Applescript. Here’s what I need:
[b:96f9322ba0]Proposal:[/b:96f9322ba0]
Write a Applescript that will automatically log me into the server at work, when my Mac starts up each weekday at 9:20 a.m.[b:96f9322ba0]Situation:[/b:96f9322ba0]
I am running Mac OS 9.2.2 on a PowerMac G4(AGP). I am logging into a Windows2K IIS server named Abott.[b:96f9322ba0]Background Info:[/b:96f9322ba0]
Right now each morning, I have set my computer to start up at 9:20 a.m. by setting a schedule in the Energy Saver control panel. After I start up, I go to the Apple Menu<Chooser<Appleshare, and double click the server “Abott” to log into it. A dialog box appears with [b:96f9322ba0]Connect to the file server “Abott” as:[/b:96f9322ba0], and a field for [b:96f9322ba0]Name:[/b:96f9322ba0] and [b:96f9322ba0]Password:[/b:96f9322ba0] I enter “Jono” in the name field, and “AbottuserJ” in the password field, and hit the Connect button. A dialog box appears with “[b:96f9322ba0]Select the items you want to use:[/b:96f9322ba0]” and a list of volumes on Abott to select/check. I have the “[b:96f9322ba0]Save my name only[/b:96f9322ba0]” radio button checked. I select the volumes(see below), hit OK, and they appear on my desktop. If your use a Mac you probably didnĂt need this description, but there you have it.[b:96f9322ba0]Specs:[/b:96f9322ba0]
[b:96f9322ba0]Windows 2k IIS Server name:[/b:96f9322ba0] Abott
[list:96f9322ba0]
[b:96f9322ba0]Volumes on Abott:[/b:96f9322ba0]
[*:96f9322ba0] Clients
[*:96f9322ba0] Individuals
[*:96f9322ba0] vpdwork
[*:96f9322ba0] wwwroot
[*:96f9322ba0] abottgroup
[/list:u:96f9322ba0]
[b:96f9322ba0]User Name:[/b:96f9322ba0] Jono
[b:96f9322ba0]Password:[/b:96f9322ba0] AbottuserJ
[b:96f9322ba0]Harddrive name:[/b:96f9322ba0] Mac HD 11I would like this script to be a start up application script if at all possible. Ideally I would like my Mac to start up, as scheduled, and then once started up, automatically run this script to log me in to Abott and mount the desired volumes on Abott. Also, this script will need to work as if I have removed any server aliases from my Hard drive in: System Folder<Servers.
Let me know if you need more information from me.
Thanks!January 6, 2004 at 9:47 pm #357167pribanic
ParticipantJoel,
Do you have any of the applescript studio source posted anywhere. I’m going to try to write some utilities and I’d love to see it as a guide.
Thanks,
Bryan

ParticipantKevin,
I have not gotten this sorted out if you are referring to my post? I have since upgraded my work macine to a G5, and am now running Panther (10.3.2).
