Does anyone know the address for the default Software Update server, as shipped in Tiger Client?

While experimenting with Tiger’s SUS, I’ve somehow lost the ability to update (and the test SU server is no longer available).

Software Update Enabler’s ‘Restore Default’ does nothing, here.

    Thanks

We are experiencing the same problem at our place of work. We have tigers software update service running, and as soon as portables are disconnected from our LAN, software update will no longer function. Software update just states that it cannot connect ti the internet. I bet it is still looking for our software update server, does anyone know what preference/cache that contains info about the software update server to be used, so that it can be deleted? Question

    defaults read com.apple.softwareupdate

CatalogURL is the string you’re looking for

Running tcpdump on a clean box as you run software update will provide all the details of what’s going on

    Hi again.

Found that deleting the software update plist from /Library/Managed Preferences solved everything. Thanks for all help.

    Sorry, forgot to mention:

I also had to delete the contents of the folder ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost

You only need to delete the CatalogURL string on a client running Tiger. It isn’t there by default. Deleting it will refer SU back to Apple.
