Apple IMAP not getting mail received by exim

I just set up exim on my Mac OS X Server 10.2.4 based on the AFP548 article, but I’m having some problems. If I configure exim to drop the mail in /var/mail, then IMAP/POP/WebMail(basically IMAP) don’t get it. There’s no option for Sendmail in the dropdown menu of the protocols tab in Server Settings, though. There’s just “Apple Mail Service SMTP”, “Other Mail Transfer Agent”, and “None”.

If I try to get exim to pass the mail on to port 627, it rejects messages with “reason: 550 relay not permitted”. At this point, I don’t honestly care which way I solve the problem as long as it gets solved.

Tried that. exim accepted the mail, but Apple’s IMAP couldn’t see it.
