I did the upgrade in place from 10.2.8 to Server 10.3 and then 10.3.3. Alas, my nicely working Apache/PHP/MySQL set-up didn’t make it gracefully. Web server won’t start.

Aside from David OíDonnell’s article, can anyone offer tips on how to straighten this out? Sigh, I had a nice set-up
, even an SSL certificate. It’s all still there. Tell me I don’t have to play Sisyphus and roll this rock up the hill again.

First of all: was PHP working for you after the 10.2.8 upgrade to 10.3?

The upgrade from Jaguar to Panther hosed my PHP install. I decided to go for Marc Liyanages PHP installer package, instead of jumping through the hoops again.

The upgrade from 10.3.2 to 10.3.3 hosed my Apcahe. It would not start. The upgrade added these lines in the httpd.conf configuration file:

# Including WebObjects Configs
Include /System/Library/WebObjects/Adaptors/Apache/apache.conf

I commented them out, (as I’m not using WebObjects) and Apache restarted smoothly.

Hope this helps,
Cheers. 🙂

Reinstalled Liyanage’s PHP 4.3.4 and commented out the two lines as you suggested. Everything’s back working — MySQL, custom PHP stuff, everything. And in under 10 minutes total.

Thanks a heap!
