This feels to me like the first time I’ve had a platform specific update in Leopard.

    Correct me if I’m wrong.

I am not going to split my Leopard build train for PPC and X86.

Think this update is universal? True, I don’t have many PPC machines left to worry about but…

Suppose I could build a pkg that does this:

    1. copy AirPortExtremeUpdate2008004.pkg to some dir on target disk
    2. create launchdaemon or loginhook that calls a script…
    3. …that is platform aware and runs installer only if on X86
    4. then deletes pkg
    5. and finally unloads the launch daemon / destroys the loginhook

    Thoughts? Anyone?

    FYI.

The installer does not prevent itself from being installed on a PPC machine.

It installs and, from what I can tell, does not prevent the hardware from booting Leopard.

My test case was a dual G5 PowerMac.

    We shall see.
