    Gentleones,

I just installed 10.4 on a mini that has an AirPort card in it and was shocked to see that Internet Sharing is not a possibility. (OSXS shares everything else… why not its hardwired connection?!)

Anyway, I found some instructions over here at MacOSXhints.com, but in spite of the fact that I have a supposedly-functioning DHCP server and the proper configuration of the AirPort’s TCP/IP connection (at least, according to one of the tips), the AirPort interface (en1) is still inactive according to ifconfig.

Has anyone had any luck getting an equivalent to Internet Sharing set up using OSXS?

    Thanks,
    Bill

Have you tried the Gateway setup assistant? Works just fine for basic stuff.

I did, but it didn’t seem to get the AirPort interface out of “inactive” (again, according to ifconfig).

Um, duh. Sorta’ missed that whole thing at the end of the post I referenced earlier about turning on Computer to Computer network….

    Ooops.

So it does work, after all.

Well, if anybody has a way to make the AirPort become an access point, that’d be even cooler.

    Thanks,
    Bill
