AFP dropping connections during backup

So, we’ve got a Snow Leopard server (and had in the past a Leopard server) both of which we’ve always used CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner) in order to create daily backups.

Now everytime CCC is running, something occurs either in it…or on the server that makes our AFP hiccup so much so that when the backup is finished, we have to stop and re-start AFP in order to get it working properly again.

Any thoughts about why this may be occurring/how to fix it?

I should add that this symptoms has always occurred. It’s not a new development.
