WE want AD Users to have a home folder on the Mac SErver when they login on a mac and a home folder on the PC server when logging in on that.
WE have AD set up correctly…
How do we get the AD Users Mac Home folder to work, currently it is not….

    Server is 10.6.2
OD Settup and connected to AD for user authentication.
OD Users can login and home folder OK.
AD Users can login HOme folder not OK.

What are we missing here ??

    Does anyone know ?

Yes, you’ll need to use augment records. Take a look at the scripts here which may help:

    Thanks,
One issue we seem to have is using these scripts is we cannot specify the home folder location with createhomedir -s this is a problem in that
1/ home folders are created under a different folder name from the ONLY one specified in Open Directory for AD users and also it seems to try to create home directories for all users on the AD domain even though we have only imported a single group, so we must have something wrong somewhere….

we currently do this without augmented records – pure AD with no OD intervention we manage this by mirroring the home folder structure of the PC server on a seperate mac server, so the PATHs are identical. then the trick is to get the macs to go to the ‘wrong’ server.

which is a small addition to /etc/hosts – ie it thinks it’s going to the right NAMED server, but the IP address is for our mac server

    😀

it’s a bit dirty, but it’s been working ok for us for some time.

one day i’ll get the courage to try augmented records again. a trial in early days of Leo server were fraught.
