I’m hoping someone here can help. I am currently testing a setup with an iMac that is bound to our AD (not a .local) and running 10.8.2. I have set the home directory path on the Profile tab of my test account in ADUC. However, when I login to the iMac using my AD credentials, the Finder will not fully load, and the account shows as if it is the first time it has ever been logged into.
I should mention that I have tested this setup in a test environment (also not a .local domain) and the home directories worked flawlessly. I could save data, update it, change it, delete it, whatever. But in my production environment, I only see the behavior explained above.
The differences I have noted are that inside of the Directory Editor in the Directory Utility, the SMBHome and HomeDirectory attributes are missing when viewing my account from within the production AD. These attributes are present when viewing from within the test domain. According to our AD Managers, the schema has been extended to fully include the attributes for the Macs (I don’t believe the two I mentioned are even a part of the extension though), so I’m not sure how or why the home directory settings are not functioning properly in my production domain.
I’m happy to give more details. And any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
