While this might not be the perfectly correct forum for this question, I’m hoping with the right mix of experience here someone will have some insight.
With Mac 10.4.2 and 10.3.9 clients on a Win2k3 AD network we are using DHCP and DNS on the Windows server. The Mac clients are receiving the DHCP information correctly and it shows the machine name in DHCP but the server’s DNS info is not getting updated.
The only information I can find on this is this is a specific feature of Thursby’s ADmitMac software.
“Dynamic DNS registration support: the Mac will register its IP addresses with DNS using its computer account name.”
Is configuration or the server or client possible to not require third party software to have the Mac dynamically update its DNS record on a Windows 2003 Server?
