ParticipantIs there any way of finding instructions of how to extend the AD schema of 2003 SBS for Macintosh clients? Ive found the AD_Best_Practices_2.0.pdf but I dont know where are the schema scripts.
Thanks

ParticipantHi Costas,
I too would like the scripts but I can’t seem to get them off Apple UK.
Maybe one of the US readers happens to have a copy?
There is a site http://www.shukwit.com/ that has some scripts but they seem to be quite old & I don’t know if they are still applicable.
Regards,
Ben Toms.

ParticipantHello Ben
I wouldnt try the old scripts. I want to try to extend the schema since I cant find the answer to my question, which is how can I apply MCX preferences to AD users.
Thanks for taking time

ParticipantHi Costas,
Well you can apply MCX when you have the Magic Triangle configuration.
The caveat with this is that you can only apply MCX settings to groups & computers & not to induvidual users.
The other method is to use is AdmitMac (http://www.thursby.com/).
It’s costs can be quite expensive but it depends on the number of macs you need on AD.

Im in education, but there is no Apple SE here in Greece, nor Apple Hellas or something similar. I work in a company who buys Macs from abroad and resells them in the Greek market. I will try with the European dealer.
I guess i have to ask for that: from the AD_Best_Practices_2.0 document: By adding 38 attributes and 10 classes to the AD schema, your AD system can support all Mac OS X management policies. JNote: A Visual Basic script that does the correct thing is available from your Apple representative.
Thanks

ParticipantYo. So I’m sitting down here in the WWDC IT Lab freezing my you-know-what off learning all about AD schema extension goodness. I’m also learning that my edu SE has access to said script to make this extension happen on my DC automagic. So i IM’d my SE just now and he doesn’t know what the heck I’m talking about (surprise). Anyway, what should the turnaround be to get the script and start testing in a sandbox environment. The summer is tight and the testing cycle will start shrinking on Monday. Thanks!!
