I recently updated a G4 XServe to 10.4.8 and Xeon Xserve that came with 10.4.8 and it appears on both that the Samba service is broken for AD accounts.

Users who have access via acls are prompted for login, which doesn’t work unless you authenticate with a local account.

I’m not sure what happened but mac and pc users are both being prompted for authentication but AD accounts are broken.

anyone else having a similar issue? Any thoughts on a work around?

AFP users are fine, no issue’s there, so it appears to be a samba thing vs an AD plugin issue. I can also log in locally to the server with an AD account without any issues.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info. do you know how to edit that file, I’ve opened it up in a hex editor but i can’t tell where the null value is supposed to go. I’ve tried numerous places within that file but to no avail. Thanks again for the quick response.
