active directory account, mail 3.2 on leopard

I have users who are connected to active directory for logon accounts.
they are setup through choice to the mail client (not entourage like the rest).
however when they send mail through the mail client using the smtp to the server, the active directory account always locks.
this is fine if they used entourage.
the mail does go but everytime locks the ad account.

can not find nothing in console , any other places i should look.
