i’m working on setting up a Mini server to act as a spam and virus filter for another mail server, probably running Outlook. the Mini won’t be storing any mail, but filtering out anything we don’t want getting in, and delivering the rest as-is to the Outlook server. essentially, we’re hoping to have the Mini (and eventually, a couple more, load balanced) act like inexpensive Barracuda boxes with the supplied clamAV and spamassassin.

are there any documents or guides for the best way to set this up?

as someone kindly pointed out “outlook” is not a mail server, Exchange is. whatever.*

the point is, i’d like to configure my Mini as a barrier between the outside world and the internal mail server, whatever it’s running.

    * some, of course, would argue that Exchange isn’t a mail server either, but that’s a discussion for another forum.
