Since updating to 10.5.8 we have been having printer problems. The worst of which is anytime a printer runs out of paper or requires a cartridge change, it pauses. That in itself is normal. However, it also puts the printer software on any 10.5.8 machine trying to use it into a paused state. That never used to happen but now it does and in addition requires the admin password to unpause it. How can we get around this problem that is raising havoc with admins that are constantly being interrupted by users needing their printer unpaused? TIA.

This is controlled by a policy stored in the /etc/cups/cupsd.conf file. Here’s a site with some info about the changes you need to make to this file:

After changing cupsd.conf I found you have to reboot to get the system to see the changes. Once you get it all figured out you can blast the new .conf file out with ARD.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I’ll give that a try.
