    Quick question. I am using this application for the first time and I may have done something wrong. I created a dmg using the retail version of 10.5 and added the 10.5.3 pkg. The build was successful. When I mount the dmg the OSX installer does not load, just a finder window with the folder structure.

    When I restore this image to an external drive and boot from it, it actually loads and runs OSX from the drive, it does not launch the installer.

    My goal is to be able to be able to use the external disk as an install source, not boot the os from it.

    Any ideas what I did wrong?

    You have the totally wrong idea about what InstaDMG is. This has nothing to do with creating “installers”, it is for creating “images” from packages. What you are trying to do is already provided by OS X Server in the “System Imaging Utility” application.
