    So I just ran the 10.4.6 update on 3 of my servers and now AFP is repeatedly crashing.
    The test install I did in my lab didn’t have this problem but of course the 3 production servers did..

    the AFP log shows this
    The server wasn’t able to start (Unable to register IPC port)

    Crash reporter log wasn’t all that useful…

    suggestions?

    Something about one of my shares was killing the apple file server process.

    I was able to create a new folder and move the shared files into that.
    After deleting the original folder I renamed the folder and was able to startup file sharing again..
