ParticipantBrief History
Our school has about 100 OSX machines
After months of trying to get them to work in AD I gave up and ordered an Xserver.
We have 1 OSX server, that I want to use WGM to manage the Mac clients like I use group policy to do on the PCs
Windows 2000 AD, DNS is fine (forward/reverse for all servers)
I have home drives already setup for my users in AD.what I have done
I followed the AD/OD Integration guide (very helpfull)
Created an OD master
Joined the server to the AD
Now I want to use WMG to manage all of the Macs
I joined one of the Macs to the OD, it was already part of the AD
I tried to setup prefs for a user and the computer name but none of my settings are taking place when I log on, I do not get any errors. In WGM I authenticate to AD and the local 127.0.0.1
created a group, added my test AD account and set some prefs
Then I added a computer list, I used the name and it was able to reslove the MAC address, set different prefs.
When I log on using that Mac and username none of prefs are getting applied.I am new to OSX, our PTA wanted us to be dual platform, where can I check logs to see why these prefs are not getting pushed down?
Thanks

ParticipantAnyone else have this working? I called Apple tech support today and paid them money and they were of no help!
I have had the SSO working, I just watnt to be able to use the WGM on my AD users when they login.
I must be missing somethink simple.December 13, 2005 at 3:11 pm #364405Alphadog7
ParticipantI have machine preferences working great, but no user prefs are working…
Is this dependent on Kerberos or location of dir homes? Our students home are on a Windows server, but I have not set that up yet…

Unless you extend the AD schema, you need the OD domain to store the mcx in.If they are OD users then you should just be able to apply MCX to them.[/QUOTE]
I am not sure what you meant when you said that the MCX needs to be store in? In what? Is this stored in the home directory? What if we plan on having local home directories but just management from OD? I set up groups in OD and added AD users and it wont’ pull the settings down. Any help would be great macshome.
