ParticipantMy server rebooted for an unknown reason. This isn’t totally unheard of though. Problem is as it rebooted itself, I am no longer able to check my email accounts that are hosted on the server. This is 10.3.9 Server by the way. And the server is hundreds of miles off site so I can’t touch it. Anyway I can’t connect and I don’t know why. I can see lots of errors in various places, like the SMTP logs, but I don’t know what any of them really mean. I have a backup from the other day, but I’m not sure using it is going to help, if the problem is the server and not the data i.e. mail spools etc. Here are some relevant errors I pulled from my logs. That is, things that seem relevent to me but who knows.
IN SMTP LOG:
(temporary failure. Command output: couldn’t connect to lmtpd: Connection refused_ 421 4.3.0 deliver: couldn’t connect to lmtpd_ )IN SYSTEM.LOG (these errors repeat over and over)
Apr 1 22:53:05 localhost master[314]: service lmtpunix pid 3304 in READY state: terminated abnormally
Apr 1 22:53:05 localhost lmtpunix[3305]: DBERROR db4: fatal region error detected; run recovery
Apr 1 22:53:05 localhost lmtpunix[3305]: DBERROR: dbenv->open ‘/var/imap/db’ failed: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
Apr 1 22:53:05 localhost lmtpunix[3305]: DBERROR: init() on berkeley

Apr 1 22:53:05 localhost lmtpunix[3305]: DBERROR db4: environment not yet opened
Apr 1 22:53:05 localhost lmtpunix[3305]: DBERROR: opening /var/imap/deliver.db: Invalid argument
Apr 1 22:53:05 localhost lmtpunix[3305]: DBERROR: opening /var/imap/deliver.db: cyrusdb error
Apr 1 22:53:05 localhost lmtpunix[3305]: FATAL: lmtpd: unable to init duplicate delivery databaseI’m not sure what the problem is or what to do about it. Any assistance would be appreciated. I am uploading a backup (made from the mailbackup script) to my server now and unless I hear otherwise, thats the first thing I’m going to try.

ParticipantThat was quick.
I found this document:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107996and that worked perfectly. Well it marked ALL of my emails as read, when mail.app resycned to the server, but thats no big deal and super easy to fix. So I believe I am back on track, and didn’t even need to use my backup. 😀 ( <- happy with self )
