Anybody else using 10.3.3 as a PDC and having issues in the change password area (XP CLIENTS – CNTRL-ALT-DEL and selecting change password)? At first it was giving me a “domain not available” error…trolling the Samba lists led me to a workaroudn — uninstall a MS hotfix (828741 i believe)…now i’m getting the error message that the username or password is not correct (only when I try to change the PW–logins are fine)…it appears that this may be corrected in Samba 3.03–which doesnt appear to be something that apple plans to include in the 10.3.4 update which was seeded to developers.

i want to roll out this server but need to have my windows users the ability to change their passwords first (gotta set a default password cause our old server is 10.1–cant migrate passwords to open directory).

    any suggestions??

We have the same or similar problem with our current 10.3.4 server install (was 10.3.3 and had same problem). We would get the message that the domain was not available when a user tried to change a password but as long as they went through all the motions up until it asked them again to enter the old password after the error message, the password would in fact be changed.

Instead of waiting for a fix, we deployed and did some user education to just ignore the domain not available warning when changing a password and all has worked fine since then. Not ideal, but it works.
