ParticipantAlready tested the OS X Servers for the inherited permissions option. It does not work all the time. We have to go to the Workgroup Manager and force it to update the permissions at least once per day on our production servers. The servers have a very high amount of traffic. Around 14+ Gigs per day are served.

ParticipantAlso expericing problems with this Inherit thing.
Well the inherit ooption is on and working just fine (both from Workgroupmanager or setting the stickybit) but is is the accesmode the files/folders get when a file ends up on the server.
It seems like the AppleTalk client or whatever it is just don’t gives a rat’s about what the servers umask is set to.
If I copy a file to the server with accesmode set to 777 (rwxrwxrwx).
And the umask is set to 022. The result should be: 644. (The default accesmode for files that land on the server in UNIX is 666).
But!
If I copy with a OS X 10.2.3 client the accessmode stays the same: thus 777.
If I copy copy with an OS 9.2.2 clinet the accesmode becomes 660.Why this way? why? Can anyone help me?

ParticipantWhen setting up your users and groups in the Workgroup Manager, which NetInfo Domain do you use when creating your new groups? If you create a new group in the “NetInfo/root” you may have problems.
I did not pay attention to which Domain was active when creating my groups and they were all in the “NetInfo/root”. They should be in the NetInfo Domain “NetInfo/DefaultLocalNode”. After making the switch [b:76ba59c550]most[/b:76ba59c550] but not all of my permissions problems went away.
