I have a nice stable Xsan running on Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and that’s mostly where I intend to stay for the near term.
I have long used an iMac as my cluster console. I use this box (running only client MacOS X) to do ARD and Server Admin and Xsan Admin. It’s nice.
I recently got a nice new iMac for this purpose. Nice. But wait. It comes with Lion pre-installed. And my old reliable Xsan Admin app no longer runs.
Now that Xsan is included in the client OS, it seems like maybe the only way to get a functional Xsan Admin app is to actually buy MacOS Server for ~$50 (which includes Xsan Admin) and somehow persuade my iMac to run the Xsan Admin app included there.
Can this be so?
One used to be able to run the Xsan Admin app from just about anywhere. You could run it on MacOS client or server. You could run it on an Xsan member node – controller or client. You could run it on a unrelated node – big or small.
Am I missing something?
Is Xsan Admin out there somewhere?
Puzzled,
K
