My household server is OS X Server, which I also use as a faux staging environment.
One of the clients is a Dual G4 533 connected at 100TX/FD.
It is taking 14 hours to install iDVD over the network.
Another client, a PowerBook using Airport, did the same install in about 20 minutes.
Both are using PHD’s, and authenticating via OpenDirectory.
I can’t think of a single reason why this machine is so incredibly slow accessing things over the network. I’ve recabled and there are no errors on the interfaces nor in system.log and the console log.
Anyone ever see this behavior? I did an AppleJack on that workstation in an attempt to see what was going on. Originally the complaint was that iTunes would time-out when playing from a library on the network.
The other machines also have their libraries on the network and no problems.
