We use the following command to pull a list of installed software off of our MACs using a 3rd party utility that ties into our asset management database. We have one MAC in particular that we get an error on and aren’t sure what is causing it.

system_profiler -xml SPApplicationsDataType is run, it returns the following error message:

system_profiler[731] CFLog (0): CFPropertyListCreateFromXMLData(): Old-style plist parser: missing semicolon in dictionary. 2008-06-23 10:44:41.275
system_profiler[731] CFLog (0): CFPropertyListCreateFromXMLData(): The file name for this data might be (or it might not): /System/Library/SystemProfiler/SPApplicationsReporter.spreporter/Contents/Resources/SPProperties.plist

What third party utility are you running? Perhaps it is calling for older data?
