With the new code coming out, will you be able to build an image for say the Mac Mini 2010 or Mac Pro 2010 on another machine? Just importDisk.py the grey disk form the Mini or Mac Pro and then have the catalog file associated with that build? Or will I still have to run that specifically on the MacMini/MacPro until 10.6.5?

Nothing is really changing in this area. There is nothing in the code that will stop this from working, and it probably will work just fine. The only issue is that the involved installers MIGHT have things in them that will only install when run on the hardware they are made for. The last instance of this that I know about is the DVD Player will only install when the computer that it is installing on has a DVD player. I don’t think that this has happened since then, but I have no way of knowing if the situation will pop up again.

I bought a Retail 10.6.3 OS X Snow Leopard disc at Best Buy and it shows as Build 10D575. It *should* be a standard build, so I thought I’d mention it.

Also, how do InstallerChoices.xml files work with the new setup? You put the build # in vanilla and it will use that build installer disc, but how do I specify InstallerChoices? Leave it in the BaseOS Folder or put it elsewhere?

    Thanks,

    Nate

So I just updated to 383 and tried the new importDisk.py without –legacy. I saw that it imported my 10.6.3 Reference disk 10D575 and placed it in InstallerDiscs. So I’m assuming i put the installer choices in there? Then I created a new catalog file and under Builds I put 10D575. Just started up instaUp2Date.py, I’ll let you know in the morning if it worked!
