printing to a windows network printer from OS 9

I have an iMac running Panther, but still use a couple pf programs that only run in OS 9. Whilst I can print to my HP Deskjet (connected to a PC on my network) from Panther applications, I can’t print from the OS 9 apps.

In the Chooser I can see the HP printer in the left pane, but when I select it it does not appear in the right pane 🙁

Any ideas out there?
