I just passed the Client-exam of the ACSA-certificate. Do people have any tips before starting the Server part. I heard that after doing the client part, server is less information to process. I will do a course, but I spend a lot of time making sure I was prepared for the client exam.

I studied very hard and I did the course, so I was well prepared. I must say, some of the questions were vague, you could interperate them in different ways. It is also strange they only offer the exam in English, for non-english this is an extra handicap.
I think the hardest part is knowing all the command plus their syntaxes. (scored 89% though).

    Well done.

I haven’t done any of the Apple course but found the client exam was quite hard. I’d say the server exams is a bit more difficult but there is better documentation of Mac OS X Server so its easier to revise for (espically if you haven’t been on the course like myself). All the topics you need to know are in SKills Assessment PDF on the Mac website. If you know every point on the Skills Assement then you can pass the exam.

Similar to the client exam you have to know how to do most things from the command line.

If you do the course then I think the exam shouldn’t be too hard.

I agree with that. Many of the questions on various Apple tests were/are vague. Most I took without studyingbut a few require studying etc…. The courses and materials are pricey and it’s hard to know which ones will be helpful. The first class I took I got an employer to buy materials for a good chunk of change. They ended up being worthless to me.

Things just changed. The 10.3 tests will be available until the end of 2005. Anyone who passes the 10.3 tests is automatically an ACSA 10.4. Afterwards, you have to do the 10.4 route.

    That’s my take on this.
