    All —

I’m working in an environment where we are considering implementing one of these two solutions. My background is in using Open Directory and to be frank, DirectControl doesn’t seem to offer anything I need that I can’t find in OD. I’m not thrilled about using a third-party product that is less than a year old (DirectControl) on another third-party product (Active Directory) to manage my Macs. That being said, others in the company (who don’t know anything about OD) seem to think DirectControl is a better way to go.

Does anyone out there have experience with DirectControl? Any thoughts and comments are appreciated. I’m in the beginning stages of putting together a comparision sheet between the two products and any information I can gather helps.

    Thanks!

    Cool. Thanks for your response.

We already have several OD structures in place (we’re a large, world-wide company) and were planning on using the golden triangle approach — so we’re using AD for authentication and OD for desktop/user/group management. In that scenario, I don’t see a need for DirectControl, at least as far as the Macs go.

    Thanks,
    Sapridyne
