    hell-o all
got a server running fedora core 4 and 20 imacs actually under ox.2, osx3, os9…I’d like to netboot my mac clients from the linux server?
is there a way to do this?
what do I need on the server? bootp protocol?

    thx for answers?

If you don’t mind reinstalling your FC4 server I’d highly recommend that you try the K12LTSP (k12 Linux Terminal Server Project) The latest version is based on FC 4 with lots of updates and they have done all the hard part for you. This latest version supports booting both Mac and PC thin clients. For the PC’s you can use a boot disk or PXE boot with an enabled NIC. For the Macs you can hold down the N key and they will boot from your Linux server. Only gotchas I know of are 1) no sound on the mac thin clients 2) some of the older netbootable macs require a command line switch to be given rather than just holding down the N key. Something like boot enet: yaboot ( I know that’s’ not the right syntax, but the essential part is the yaboot)

    Good luck.

    Peace,
