Just a standard install with all applicable apps and updates…and a startupdelay of 15 seconds I’m using a plain ‘ol MacBook to build the image on and cloning down to 30-some “white” core 2 duo iMacs. At login all users show up on the list, but whenever anyone logs in, group selection is skipped and they are brought to a Finder with an unmanaged dock (completely empty) and unrestricted system prefs – it should be noted that we manage both.
As soon as this user logs out, all accounts function properly until the next reboot.
Furthermore, our previous image for our G4 iBooks and eMacs works just fine. Our OD setup is very healthy and dns is working just fine.
I also noticed the following in my system log:
Mar 13 06:00:28 ILC2-07 /System/Library/CoreServices/mcxd.app/Contents/MacOS/mcxd: DSGetLocallyHostedNodeNames(): dsFindDirNode() == -14008
Mar 13 06:00:28 ILC2-07 /System/Library/CoreServices/mcxd.app/Contents/MacOS/mcxd: DSGetSearchPath(): DSGetLocallyHostedNodeNames() == -14956
Mar 13 06:00:28 ILC2-07 /System/Library/CoreServices/mcxd.app/Contents/MacOS/mcxd: DSGetCurrentConfigInfo(): DSGetSearchPath() == -14956
Mar 13 06:00:28 ILC2-07 /System/Library/CoreServices/mcxd.app/Contents/MacOS/mcxd: DSGetCacheInfo(): DSGetCurrentConfigInfo() == -14956
Mar 13 06:00:28 ILC2-07 /System/Library/CoreServices/mcxd.app/Contents/MacOS/mcxd: *** MCXD.getComputerInfo: Couldn’t get cache info -14956
I looked up the errors and it seems as if it can’t contact my OD master. A guru friend also confirmed this.
I should note that we don’t properly bind our machines to OD here. Our method (established before I came here) had always been to just create a local connection with no binding or anything.
I appreciate an assistance you may be able to provide.
Best Regards,
NATech
