I work as the tech coordinator at an elem school in N. Va. We have 4 OS X servers – one parent server, three child servers. My parent server is connected directly to a cisco catalyst 3500 switch with GBIT adapters. i am no expert at configuring cisco switches. when the three other servers are connected to the GBIT adapters, networked group folders do not automount on my clients. when I have the child servers on a seperate 100baseT cisco 3500 switch without using the GBIT adapters, the networked group folders mount as they are supposed to. I am wondering if anyone out there has configured these GBIT/catalyst switches that could enlighten me. obviously the first GBIT adapter is configured fine. users and groups who have resources on that server with that connection have no problems. Is there a port I need to open up on the other three GBIT ports? spanning tree protocol issues? any reason why the first port and GBIT adapter combo works with networked home folders and automounts and the other three do not?
