Hi all. Ive run into issues with lion 10.7.3 on airs. Ive followed the Downloading Hardware Specific Lion Installers guide in the announcements section on this site and grabbed the InstallESD.dmg after first reboot. What happens is that if I try to plug the InstallESD into SIU (on lion 10.7.3 client and server 10.7.3) I get an error:

Image creation failed and unknown error has occurred

Also if i try to create a bootable usb out of the InstallESD it boots but then it says:

There was a problem installing “Mac OS X” Try reinstalling

Ive tried to download this image twice and the md5 hash matches both images (d362f0f6fd8e241379fc02f1aee50939) and the version of the image is 11D50b. Anyone have a clue whats going on?

Hey Dreident,

You shouldn’t need hardware specific installers for any currently shipping models, the InstallESD.dmg you’d find in “Install Mac OS X Lion.app”, direct from the Mac App Store, should work fine. The only change with 10.7.3 images is, in my experience, you should BUILD and RESTORE using a 10.7.3 machine. It might sound like voodoo, but there is a specific KB from Apple regarding this need when using SIU, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4975 , although it’s a bit confusing as to what functionality that KB is specifically speaking to.
I’ve even seen issues with 10.7.2 DeployStudio NetBoot sets stalling indefinitely on restore. Let us know if you’re still having issues,

Allister
