Getting enhanced jbod drive recognized

I have inserted a drive in my xraid, in the lower controller set and have made it a enhanced jbod drive. The raid has been restarted and when I look in the raid admin, it appears right. I can't, however, see it from the xserver - I assumed that it would appear in the disk utility, so I could initialize it, but no sign of it. Is there anything more I need to do, in order to see it (and initialize it)? TIA, Peter
