ARD problem

I have a remotely located server that under normal circumstances i administrate via ARD, this has been fine until a couple of days ago.

As of now when i try to control the machine ARD says “would you like to request permission to control” which sounds to me like the ARD access priveleges have gone screwey.

i have tried repairing the permissions via ssh and rebooting but still ARD wont let me in. do you know how i can alter the ARD access rights via terminal.
