We have an AD/OD environment. We have all of our file sharing happening on a Windows 2k8 server. Our leopard and snow leopard machines are able to access all the correct network shares read/write properly and everything based on the user that logs in.

Each user has a set of folders they are supposed to access. For discussion purposes we will say 2 folders, user folder and public folder. So user John Doe can read/write folder ‘jodoe’ and ‘public’ and user Jane Doe can read/write ‘jadoe’ and ‘public’ On leopard, snow leopard, windowsXP/7, John doe can read and write correctly to ‘jodoe’ and ‘public’ but not ‘jadoe’ (which is perfect) and same for Jane Doe, all correct.

Now, we got about 40 new MacBooks all running Lion (10.7.1) lion allows the user John Doe to read and write to ‘jodoe’ and not to ‘jadoe’ THIS is good. BUT it will only let John doe read ‘public’ no write permission is available. Same with Jane Doe. Checking the folder/file info on Lion Under Sharing & Permissions it says “You can only read”. Then proceeds to list the permissions underneath (all grayed out) and ‘jadoe’ & ‘jodoe’ are both listed with permissions down there.

If I log in as ANY user it has the same effect EXCEPT for Domain Admin, Domain Admin can read/write everywhere on every OS no problems like it should.

So my question is, why can every os read/write properly according to our permissions settings except Lion?

    Thanks
