Hi, I’ve just created a 10.6.8 build from a retail DVD and 10.6.8 combo updater. The MRT process is running on first boot and running at 100% for a second and logging “com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.mrt[97912]) Exited with exit code: 4” every 8 or 9 secs. Has anyone seen or successfully built an image where the MRT successfully removes it self? thanx

Have I seen it not successful remove itself? I see a couple of hints in Google searches having to do with the security/auth framework complaining. There are also threads with less-than-graceful ways of dealing with that occurrence on macfixit, but it shouldn’t be directly related to your build, since we’re usually doing things in the cleanest way possible. What system did you build on? If you could post or link a pastie of your log(debug is probably unnecessary)? That would be a good starting point to see if it is build related(the repair permissions it does at the end should be all you need to clear install issues, assuming you’re building on a fully patched system). Are there possibly any proxy/firewall rule considerations on the network you’re testing on?

I built it on a 10.6.8 custom image. I’ll try a vanilla image. I’ll will also investigate if theres a custom package causing the issue. I’m still investigating the instaDMG log for details, but at this stage theres no obvious issues.

Apple’s reply “It appears like /etc/authorization is bad, as there is no entry for com.apple.ServiceManagement.daemons.modify. Authorization Services is using this as the default rule, so we suspect that this is the reason why it fails. As the demon can not be modified due to this rule, the removal process must fail. Comparing this /etc/authorization to the version that ships with 10.6.8 shows substantial differences.”

    thanks
