    Hello everyone,

I help run a 1:1 laptop program in a K-12 school system. I am everything from Sys admin to end user support. We will be phasing out 6,000 Macbooks and phasing in either 6,000 new Macbooks or Macbook Airs over this summer. Currently 95% of my deployment is 10.5.8 including my servers. We will be going full 10.6 or perhaps 10.7 if that is what ships with our new Macs we buy this summer.

I have been running the program for four years now. We are also a Casper shop. I use Casper for everything. Now, with this refresh comes an opportunity for me to change things up a bit and perhaps try out new things I have always wanted to. I am looking at adding the following tools to my image now: Radmind, iHook, Growl, and perhaps developer tools to give me access to things like Fink and Macports. Anyone currently using any of these in their actual deployment and in production machines? If so, how do you like them?

I have the Casper framework to work with. So I was thinking of using these tools, then use Casper to deploy, manage, push out scripts and so forth to these tools that are installed on my client base. I already do a lot of this now, but with out the tools mentioned.

All advice and thoughts are welcome.

    Thanks,

    Tom
