Last night I made a 10.5.8 instaDMG file using the same method addon pkg’s I used for the 10.6 (2 x create user, and the clear reg), but with the 10.5_vanilla catalog file. Seemed to go fine, but when I deploy the image I noticed it took a LONG time to “reboot”

Deployment goes fine, image comes down, scripts run, joins AD, etc. but when casper comes through and “reboots” to the HD it sits there for an extended period of time.

After a few test deployments I decided to use a stop watch to time what I consider extended… the result… 5minutes 51.8 seconds.

To put it into perspective – I timed how long it took to “reboot” my 10.6.4 instaDMG file I created earlier…12.1 seconds

I tried the 10.5.8 on multiple hardware platforms, all were about the same reboot time, and the 10.6.4 image reboots consistently around 12-14 seconds.

    InstaDMG 1.6b1 and rev 320

I was going to pull down a fresh copy of instaDMG and update it to see if that makes a difference and try again.

Maybe a silly note, but you are creating your 10.5 image while booted into 10.5, yes? Otherwise I know things are going to go wonky.

    😳

Err, no, I originally built it on a 10.6 platform.
Last night though, I rebuilt on a 10.5 platform, giving a whirl now..

Thanks for the heads up! (seems like an odd bug though).

Lo and behold. The reboot seems to work properly!

    Thank you again!
