    Hey everybody.

I’m a newbie when it comes to using InstaDMG. I’ve been using System Restore Utility for about a year and really like it; but I’m trying to make a custom installer that would install the Mac Box Set (10.6, iLife ’09 and iWork ’09). iWork won’t install when putting it through System Restore Utility. It gives me some garbage about needing QuickTime 7. Anyway, I was looking into InstaDMG to get around this. Problem is that I don’t really understand how to use it.

I ran through the two terminal commands given in the pdf that it comes with which gives me a 10.6.3 Install DVD (AWESOME by the way) but when, where and how do I add iLife ’09 and iWork ’09 to the install process?

It can do a better job at helping you than my memory could.

    Hey there Dr.,
Glad you were able to get into the swing of things! InstaDMG will be the best, free way to have this package-based way of imaging play nice with all sorts of installers for the foreseeable future.
iLife will just work if you drag the mpkg to a folder in your numbered CustomPkgs section. iWork requires certain plists to be set, I have posted a ‘fixer’ package for that in the mydownloads section of this website. If you want to remove certain installs from iLife, pretty much anything that is exposed in the GUI installer process, you could follow the same method as described in the InstaDMG Documentation folder. In there is a InstallerChoices folder that roughly hints at the process of using the command line installer binary to produce an “installer_choices.xml” file. Let us know if you have more questions along the way.

    Allister
