I have figured out how to remove some of the setup assistant modules that i would rather my users not see, but since i have global users, they can now use the setup assistant to set their keyboard, country, and timezone. I have one other thing i need each user to set and that is their asset tag, i have an applescript that takes the input from the user, and a perl script checks it for proper format etc. I would love for this to run during setup assistant, but putting my app in place of one of the other modules, or trying to add my own module to setup assistant nothing happens, so now i have a guest user autologin that happens so the getAssetTag can run, as soon as the file is created and good, the user gets logged out, autologin unconfigured etc.
The problem with this is i have to reboot for the autologin environment to work properly, so it starts to feel like a windows system coming up with multiple reboots 🙂 if anybody has any suggestions on how to work with setup assistant i would appreciate it.
