    Hi all,

I recently moved from xserve G4 10.4.7 to xserve intel 10.4.10
Since the move I have the following issue.

When windows clients try to logon to the server it takes about 5 minutes to get a login screen.
Once logged on the file transfer speed etc is just fine.

When I stop the windows service and start it again, the windows clients just get an error that the server is unavailable.
The only thing that seems to work is to reboot the entire server.
Then it’s fine again for a few days.

The windows service is setup to be a PDC.

Any tips or suggestions will be appriciated.
    thanks,
    jan

    Thanks for your reply.

Basically I did a clean install and then restored the open directory backup.
Imported sharepoints, and dragged/dropped most of the settings back in via Server Admin.
    IP is still the same.
The ethernet ports are now on link aggregation which wasn’t the case on the old server.

Well, I got it working now.:D
No reboots needed anymore and authentication times and file transfers are fast again..

The solution is rather weird, but it works (for me at least):

In server admin i unchecked the “NTLMv2 & Kerberos” box
On the windows cients I’ve done the following.

    Start -> Run “secpol.msc”
In the tree open and click Security Settings -> Local Policy -> Security Options
Scroll the left pane down to ‘Network Security: LAN manager authentication level’
Change this to ‘Send NTLMv2 response only\refuse LM & NTLM’ ‘

    Maybe this helps someone else.
